I am part of a interdisciplinary team at Daimlers Digital Interior Center, we develop new concepts for future digital automotive interior. My main goal is the development of attractive and logical control concepts, which would be oriented towards the passengers needs and the handling of complex vehicle functions into an intuitive and brand specific experience.
User Interface concepts in the automobile industry should be suitable for different Cultures and Codes of Law. UI design should fit seamless into the attractive Interior Design of a car and secure the control over different functions in all circumstances. The development of Interface Concepts is therefore a exciting interdisciplinary process.
The attractiveness of a product is the key for our attention. Design should always be oriented towards the needs of the customer and should satisfy them in an attractive manner.
I have always been fascinated by new materials – learning about the different characteristics and manufacturing processes is always exciting and contains new potential for innovation. While aesthetics and need-oriented development are a key part in my work, the importance of the right use of materials during the development process is not to be understated. This worldview has already led me to a invention, which was patented under my name.
CAD means control about the details. How do two surfaces come together? Where is the parting line. These are questions that can influence the Design of a product in retrospective. As a passionate designer I am very concerned about the quality of my draft as well as the quality of the provided data. This mind-set helped me to learn more about different tools and to specialize in „Solid Works“ and „Rhino“. During my lectureship at the HfK-Bremen in the Summer semester of 2014 I was able to pass down my knowledge as well as freshen it up again.
To design a button, a product or a car is one thing – the difficulty is how to present it! Is the vision behind the design presented in a logical and comprehensible manner? There are a lot of different types of presentation – on the side the classic, very basic rendering and on the other side a really complex, flashy picture composition. During my work life I was confronted with different challenges and was able to fulfil a variety of wishes for visualization.
